Information about Homeschool Education

I'm now in my fourteenth year of homeschooling. After years of homeschooling multiple children, I'm finally homeschooling just my youngest child. I feel homeschooling is best for the child and best for the family.

The first thing is that you must be within the law. People pull their children out of school and don't follow their states laws regarding homeschooling. Before you start to homeschool your child, make sure you are legal in all your actions.

Then start to think about curriculum.

Don't homeschool because you don't like public school if being with your children all day every day will drive you crazy. Many people can homeschool, but some people should not. You need to be with your children and home for most of the day, are you sure you can do that?

It's not being overprotective to homeschool your children. Most homeschoolers have a good social life and don't stay home all the time. If you care that your children have a social life and you do something about it, then your children won't be as sheltered as many people think homeschoolers are.

There are many advantages to homeschooling, and this article lists some of them. From better relationship with your children to a better standard of education, who wouldn't want to homeschool?

You can homeschool in a messy environment, but it's easier if you are organized. In addition to homeschooling, mom still needs to organize laundry, cleaning and shopping, and it's not easy.

Homeschooling is better if it's planned, and there's lots of planning involved. The curriculum needs to be planned. Then your weeks and months need to be scheduled. You have to be careful that you give your children a social life without over scheduling them. 

Many people ask, how do you teach many children of different ages and levels? There are some tricks that I've learned over the years of homeschooling very different grades of children. I did as many subjects  as I could with as many children together, paired the older ones with the younger ones and many other things that helped.

One of the best things about homeschooling is that you can go places off peak when they aren't busy. There is a least busiest day, month and time of the day to go on field trips with homeschoolers.

Even pre-schoolers need some planning in their day. They have a lot of energy for small amounts of time. The trick is to use that energy in an educational direction.

When people ask "What is a typical homeschool day like?" You can show them this article when I was homeschooling 3 children of very different levels and life was crazy. It's much easier now that they are all older. but my life really was this hectic at one time.

Homeschooling is not like teaching in school. You teach differently with one or two children compared with 20 or 30. Given that fact, I prefer to use books that have been written by homeschoolers rather than traditional school books.
