List of Movies with Deaf People In Them

Here is a list of movies with deaf people in them. Please let me know if you know of a movie with a deaf person in that I haven't listed here.

The movies are varied between deaf adults and deaf children, and some of them are movies while some are documentaries. From people born deaf, to others who went deaf after a while.

Also there is often tension between the deaf and the hearing that is portrayed in some of these movies.

Also included is a movie about Helen Keller who became deaf and blind after an illness at age 6.

Most of these are based on true stores, while some are fiction.

Most deal with some form of prejudice.

This is a documentary about the cochlear implant, a device that can make deaf people hear again and the decision behind whether or not to get one. When a deaf child is born to two deaf parents and wants to hear, the parents feel betrayed that he would want to “leave the deaf community”.

Christop doesn’t like the stranger who moved in upstairs. Gradually, however, he realizes he is a musical genius who is also deaf. The music in this movie is wonderfully woven into the story, which is suitable for viewers of all ages.

This movie, which is based on a true story, is about a young man who is skilled in sports and music when he becomes partially deaf. He has to cope with prejudice and not being able to participate until he talks to the school board.

Frankie, who is deaf, and his mother run away from Frankie's abusive father. His mother tells Frankie that his father is away on a ship, but when the ship docks in the local port, his mother has to work out what to do.
